FOUNDATION STUDIES:

MODULE 1 Salzburg, 24 September – 5 October 2007

In Module 1, "Business Management", General Management is discussed with a focus on methods of job-related decision-making, as well as Leadership, Ethics, Law and Economy.

MODULE 2 Salzburg, 26 November – 4 December 2007
Mon – Tues, no class on Sunday

Module 2, "Accountancy, Controlling & Finance", deals with Management Information Systems, Accounting, Corporate Finance and Investment & Financing.

MODULE 3 Salzburg, 4 February – 12 February 2008
Mon – Tues, no class on Sunday

The central issues of Module 3, "Marketing & Personnel Management", are methods of managerial decision-making, Marketing, Human Resources, and Social Competencies.

MODULE 4 Salzburg, 5 May – 13 May 2008

Module 4, "Value Chain Management", is comprised of Project Management, Process and Quality Management, as well as Organisational Development.

In Module 5, "Tourism and Leisure System", we ask ourselves: "What exactly are we looking at?" and "What are the units of analyses?". We will then look for answers in topics such as Foundations of Tourism & Leisure Theory, Economics & Business Issues, or The Tourism Product.

MODULE 6 St. Gallen, 3 November – 12 November 2008

In Module 6, "Tourism and Leisure Management", the questions are: "How do we manage the things we are looking at?" and "How do we create value?" Answers shall be found in topics like Services and Customer Value Management, Marketing & E-Marketing, or Cooperation & Network Management.

MODULE 7 Bozen/Bolzano, 2 February – 11 February 2009*
Mon – Weds, no class on Saturday & Sunday

In Module 7, "Product and Destination Planning", we want to know: "What do we have to manage to create value?" Therefore this module deals with disciplines such as Political Planning Processes, Spatial Planning, and Destination Management, as well as "Learning from other industries".

MODULE 8 Vancouver, 23 March – 3 April 2009*
Mon – Fri, 2x, no class on Saturday and Sunday

Module 8, "Integratives", aims to complete the overall view of the industry. "What are the industry issues of today and in the future?" is the question which will be answered by examing (examining) specific industry areas such as the 2010 Olympics. This module also completes the international point of view by presenting the North American way of handling e.g. Corporate Finance or Politics.
