Doctoral program in International Business offered by the University of the Sunshine Coast, Brisbane

As of autumn 2015, the University of the Sunshine Coast (USC) in Brisbane/Queensland, Australia, is offering all Master, MBA and Magister graduates a part-time doctoral study course for the Ph.D. / Dr. in International Business Management via the SMBS.

USC is relatively young, the state university is rapidly growing and enjoys an excellent reputation in research and teaching. It is regularly recognized for its quality and among Australia's most modern universities.

Basically the fee-based study course comprises doctoral seminars, participation in conferences / doctoral workshops and publications, teaching activities and the doctorate thesis' (dissertation). The 6 research seminars held in Salzburg and/or Munich during the first 4 semesters are each 2 to 3 days long. Furthermore, a study trip in the 5th or 6th semester to the University of the Sunshine Coast (USC) in Brisbane is envisaged.

The doctoral thesis / dissertation is developed in the form of a research project and is central to the study course. Project progress and the correct approach to the research project are accompanied by regular evaluation meetings. From the very start, candidates are provided with dual supervision by an SMBS professor from German-speaking countries, as well as a USC professor.

Aim: Application and transfer-oriented research: Receive a Ph.D. in the course of the research project with the scientific problem definition.
Admission: Officially recognized master studies or comparable, officially recognized graduation from diploma studies; Assessment interview; limited amount of study places ("first come - qualified - first served" principle)
Academic degree: Ph.D. (in AUT and GER "Dr." can also be indicated before the name. In Switzerland, only Ph.D. after the name is permitted.
Didactics: Research project, continuous evaluations dual supervision by a SMBS professor from German-speaking countries as well as a USC professor.

1. Research Project

The research project must be developed as a project. The documentation on is contained in the research specification which, includes a schedule and milestones. In the course of the application process, a first project concept (2-3 pages) is necessary.
